Research Area: Biotechnology

We are engaged in the development of new marine feed resources, e.g. by identifying new industrial enzymes for the marine products industry.

We are at the forefront of developing new raw materials from the sea: e.g. cultivating omega-3-rich microalgae at the National Algae Pilot facility at Mongstad.

In this respect we are developing cooperation with trade and industry, in a circular economic perspective, by employing captured CO2 for producing new bioresources.

We are not just working to increase the production of sustainable food from the sea. We are also helping to improve public health on a global basis by developing diarrhoea vaccines for children in developing countries - and also for travellers.
