Project Department: Uni Research Environment (group: Applied Biotechnology) period: 24.03.14 - 23.03.19

About the project

EUALGAE proposes the establishment of a European network sharing a common goal: development of an economical feasible model for the commercialization of algae-based bioproducts. This COST Action is created to stimulate not only interaction among research groups across Europe but also to foster cooperation between academia and industry. This scientific platform will generate a synergistic approach for utilization of microalgae biomass for sustainable fuels and fine chemical products.

EUALGAE consists of 5 working groups:

  1. Microalgae growth optimization and population dynamics
  2. Microalgae harvest and cell wall disruption
  3. Refining of microalgae into its valuable components
  4. Valorisation of intermediates and subproducts
  5. Economic analysis and life cycle assessment

Activities that are organised consist amongst others of meetings, training schools, and short-term scientific missions.

The aim of short-term scientific missions is to promote exchange of scientists within the scientific objectives of the action. Scientists can visit labs in another country to learn new techniques, gain access to specific data or equipment. At Uni Research we are open to applicants that would like to stay with us for an STSM. Please check the actions website for more information on the STSM's and open calls.
