Benthic invertebrate monitoring in rivers and lakes

Project Department: Uni Research Environment (group: LFI - freshwater biology) period: 21.11.14 - 31.12.18

About the project

Laboratory of Freshwater Ecology and Inland ( LFI ) has extensive experience in monitoring ecosystems and over 30 years of data series collected at some geografic localities. We take regular samples from lakes and rivers in Southern and Western Norway. We monitor acidification damages, and we monitor recovery of fauna after liming of lakes and rivers. We also monitor river systems related to biodiversity development. Within this research area, we are active in the following projects, several of these in collaboration with NIVA and NINA :

  • Network for Biodiversity
  • Monitoring of acidification damages in lakes and rivers ( samples from a variety of rivers and lakes, the longest data series)
  • Biolok - environmental monitoring of lakes nationwide
  • Effect Monitoring of limed salmon rivers
