- Increasing numbers of older patients use antidepressants (antidepressants)
- Inappropriate drug use is more prevalent in nursing homes than in open care
- Multidisciplinary medication reviews are effective for increasing prescribing quality
About the project
Drugs are important in prevention and treatment of diseases and ailments in older people. Polypharmacy increases the risk of side effects and interactions, and implementation of treatment regimens becomes more difficult. The prevalence of drug-related problems is high in older patients in general practice and nursing homes, leading to increased morbidity and mortality.
We conducted multidisciplinary interventions (doctor, nurse, pharmacist) and epidemiological studies to elucidate prescribing quality in nursing homes and open care.
