Establishment of the production of carbide and cyanamide in Odda in the early 20th century

Project Department: Uni Research Rokkan Centre (group: Society, Environment and Culture) period: 01.06.17 - 31.12.17

About the project

The early industrial activities in Odda was a success story. Why is it so little known and discussed?

The carbide factory, among other things, had a production capacity that was among the world's largest.

Can the explanation for the invisibility be that the industry in Odda was considered to be part of a foreign enclave at this time?

This project will preferably be about the first period of the industrial history of Odda, that is, from the beginning of the last century until the end of the First World War.
