Uni Research Rokkan Centre

Uni Research Rokkan Centre is an inter-disciplinary social science research centre. Its research groups and research programmes cover a broad range of social and cultural approaches. The centre is a department within Uni Research, a research enterprise owned by the University of Bergen. The centre was established on 1 January 2002 as a merger of the Centre for Social Science Research (SEFOS) and the Norwegian Centre for Research in Organization and Management (The LOS Centre), and was named the Stein Rokkan Centre for Social Studies, after Stein Rokkan (1921-79).

Internally the centre is organised into research groups representing key areas of research. Research is financed primarily by the Norwegian Research Council, the EU and public agencies.

Uni Research Rokkan Centre employs approximately 45 researchers and has a research expenditure of approximately NOK 50 million. Research projects address themes like democracy and politics, welfare and health care, health economics, management and organisational studies, culture, and technology and labour studies. Uni Research Rokkan Centre employs researchers from various disciplines who work in an inter-disciplinary environment. Most researchers hold a doctoral degree.
