About this person
Dr. Oliver's research interests are primarily in uncertainty quantification, and parameter estimation for large geoscience data assimilation problems. He has written more than 70 peer-reviewed journal publications and co-authored a book on inverse theory for petroleum reservoir characterization. Dr. Oliver is currently Editor-in-Chief for all journals of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and has served as Executive Editor for SPE Journal. He is a Distinguished Member of SPE and received the SPE Reservoir Description and Dynamics award
in 2004. Dr. Oliver received his Ph.D. in Geophysics in 1980 from the University of Washington, Seattle. Prior to serving as Director of the Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering at The University of Oklahoma, he served on the faculty at the University of Tulsa. He has experience as a reservoir engineer and as a research geophysicist with Chevron.
