Kamrul Islam earned his PhD in Health Economics from Lund University, Sweden in 2007 and an MSc in Health Economics from University of York, UK in 2000. After working as a Post Doc researcher (2007-2010) at the Department of Economics, the University of Bergen, he has been working as a Senior Researcher at UNI Research Rokkan Centre since 2010. He has extensive experience with cross disciplinary issues with primary expertise in applied microconometrics. His research mainly focus on: the impact of the coordination between primary and secondary health care and social care services; evaluation of the reforms, the impact of social capital on health and labor market outcomes; the empirical evaluation of integrated care programs for people with multiple chronic diseases by using the Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) method. He has comprehensive experience in working on two large European Union (EU) financed projects. Engaging with EU-projects broadening his international networks and capabilities in interdisciplinary as well as multi-context research experience. Presently Kamrul Islam has a part time position at the Department of Economics, University of Bergen, where he is heavily involved (coordinator of WP 5) in an EU-funded SELFIE project.
